Photographer Petr Josek, producer Stanislav Hodina and reporter Karel Janicek arrived at the gates of the Prague University building within 10 minutes of a news alert and while the shooter was on the roof of the university, an hour ahead of competition, and provided an unmatched livestream to AP Direct and Live Choice clients.

As students at Charles University in Prague were preparing for Christmas break, a lone gunman climbed on the roof of the school and started randomly shooting people. It turned out to be the worst mass shooting incident in Czech history.

AP was live both on Direct and Live Choice with images of ambulances and police special forces being dispatched to the area. This live feed continued for 45 minutes, unmatched by both Reuters and AFP. Both BBC and Sky News interrupted their program with AP Live shots.
